Located at 1317 N Charles St in the heart of Baltimore, Turp’s Sports Bar & Restaurant is a standout destination for anyone craving flavorful, hearty American fare with a vibrant sports bar atmosphere. Whether you're a local looking for your new neighborhood hangout or a traveler seeking a satisfying meal after a day of exploring, Turp’s delivers on both taste and experience.
This bar & grill brings together an impressive menu that spans comfort classics and creative culinary twists, all served in a lively, small bar setting ideal for catching the game or gathering with friends. From the first bite, it’s clear why dishes like the Buffalo Wings and Sweet Potato Tots have become crowd favorites—the wings pack a perfectly balanced punch of heat and flavor, while the tots offer a delightfully crisp and sweet contrast that’s truly addictive.
For those craving something a little more indulgent, the Monte Cristo Sandwich stands out as a must-try; this deep-fried, savory-sweet concoction has garnered rave reviews from visitors, including enthusiastic food bloggers who can’t get enough of its rich layers. Seafood lovers are well-catered for too, with the Fish Tacos featuring beer-battered cod wrapped in soft tortillas, topped with a vibrant cilantro-cabbage blend and a tangy southwest ranch sauce—a symphony of textures and flavors in every bite.
Pizza aficionados will appreciate the unique specialty pies like the Italian Delight Pizza brimming with sweet Italian sausage, mushrooms, and colorful veggies, or the Sweet and Savory Pizza layered with caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, and a blend of mozzarella, provolone, and Parmesan cheeses that meld into a luscious, rich crust experience. Calzone lovers won't be disappointed either, with meat-filled options such as the Meatball Calzone offering homemade Italian meatballs smothered in marinara and melting ricotta and mozzarella cheeses.
Beyond the mouthwatering food, what makes Turp’s truly memorable is its energetic and welcoming vibe. Customers consistently praise the attentive service, like bartender Rochelle, who adds a personal touch that makes guests feel right at home. While the atmosphere gets lively and a bit loud—perfect for group outings and lively sports viewing—it may not suit quieter, intimate dates. However, the spirited environment only adds to the authentic charm and neighborhood feel that keeps locals coming back.
One patron perfectly summed it up, noting the depth and variety of the menu make Turp’s a go-to when cravings are uncertain, promising delightful discoveries with every visit. Whether it’s the packed-to-perfection Lemon Pepper Wings, the comfort of mac n cheese, or the specialty Lobster Scampi Pizza, Turp’s offers a dynamic dining experience that’s as welcoming as it is tasty.
For anyone passing through Baltimore or searching for a reliable spot to watch the game while enjoying elevated bar food, Turp’s Sports Bar & Restaurant is a destination that delivers both exceptional flavors and a memorable local vibe.
Caught the train from Philly to Baltimore. I stopped here for lunch. Service was amazing!!!! Food was delicious. The wings were my favorite although I didn't get any pics of them.
A nice sport's bar with a surprisingly broad menu selection. The chicken parmesan was EXCELLENT. A real chicken breast in a chunky tomato sauce. Surprisingly good!!! Service was great. This place is a bit loud. Great to have drinks and catch up with friends or to watch the game. It is difficult to hear so I would not recommend for a date night.
Very friendly welcoming from bartender, Rochelle. We glanced at the menu before arriving. There is a TOGO that is separate from the Turp’s bar/dining. Excellent food. I can see why this place has positive reviews. It feels like a neighborhood spot and a travelers’ spot. Wings were wonderful. The sweet potato tots were delicious. Signature Viccino, pretty solid. Thank you for the great food and hospitality, Turp’s! Until next trip.
Last time I went to the turps the food was solid. The bar was pretty standard with really good prices. The main thing that stood out for me was the variety & depth of the menu. Turp's is one of those places you can go to when you have no idea what you want to eat & end up finding 4 things you didn't even realize you were in the mood for. If you're feeling adventurous, try the Monte Cristo.
Heard about this deep fried sandwich (Monte Cristo) and just had to try it. And I must say that I loved it. The buffalo wings are really good and they make sweet potato tots that are to die for. The crab cake was nice but the dish that really set it off and my wife and I enjoyed the most was the fish tacos! Beer battered fish, crunchy topping and that sauce, mmmmm hmmmm! And let’s not forget the churros... phenomenal!
Typical dive bar/ sports bar in Mount Vernon with a Cheers vibe. Welcoming locals, where you leave feeling like you are part of the gang. Great happy hour specials and don't miss burger night on Wednesdays! The Guinness beer cheese is so good I just want to drink it. But I don't. I put it on my $6 burger and enjoy it in all its glorious messiness. The mac and cheese and broccoli are the perfect sides and worth the upcharge. Seriously. Broccoli. Yes. Get it. The pizza is a greasy, cheesy, heaven that will make you savor every bite. The crust is thicker so your toppings stay on the pizza, but thin enough to fold. They broadcast the games on small TVs at every table. But they are muted so they dont interrupt your conversations. Usually they've got good music playing in the background. They just started karaoke night on Fridays. Looking forward to giving that a shot.
